Axion Search at CERN

The CAST experiment at CERN searches for dark matter in the form of axions, which might be emitted by the Sun.

We are currently mainly involved in the KWISP detector, which is installed behind the CAST magnet. KWISP is an ultra-sensitive force sensor which aims at detecting hypothetical particles, e.g, the Chameleon that was propsosed as a Dark Energy candidate, by the force they exert on a thin membrane.
